Bears Finish Second at Washington University Invitational

The Washington University in St. Louis women's track & field team finished second in the team standings at the Washington University Invitational held Friday-Saturday at Bushyhead Track. 

Junior Kelli Hancock had three top-four finishes Saturday, including winning the women's 400 hurdles in 1:02.54. Junior Rebecca Ridderhoff was fifth in a season-best 1:05.94. Hancock and Ridderhoff also teamed with freshman Elise Grever and junior Daisy Ogede to finish fourth in the 400 relay (48.85). Hancock finished the day by racing with senior Lane Porter, junior Ashley Knudson and sophomore Annalise Wagner to place second in the 1,600 relay (3:53.13).

The WashU women had four runners in the top-eight of the 800, led by senior Emily Warner (2:13.15) and Wagner (2:13.73) who finished first and second, respectively. Knudson was fourth in 2:1840, while freshman Abby Martin was eighth in 2:22.86.

Senior Melanie Ehrenberg was WashU's fourth event winner of the meet. She finished first in the women's pole vault with a season-best clearance of 3.65 meters. Freshman Heidi Nassos was second (3.35m), while junior Natalie Newman tied for fourth (3.05m). Nassos added an eighth-place finish in the triple jump (10.76m), while senior Maisie Mahoney was sixth with a career-best mark of 11.08m. Mahoney also tied for seventh in the high jump (1.56m), and Porter was eighth in the 400 (1:00.46).

Ogede ran a wind-aided time of 11.93 to finish as the runner-up in the women's 100. She was also third in the 200 in 24.67, and sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.24).
