NYU Finishes at ECAC Championships

From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's track & field team completed its competition at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championships, held at Westfield State University on Wednesday and Thursday, May 17-18, in Westfield, MA.

On Wednesday, in her attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships, freshman Evelyn Nkanga secured second place in the triple jump by clearing a distance of 11.17m. Her current outdoor-best jump of 11.59m was set at the Penn Relays in April and currently ranks as the 26th-best distance in the nation.

Back on the track, sophomore Sabrina Herrmann captured the 5,000m title. The transfer from the University of Arkansas clocked a time of 18:38.95 on her way to taking first.

"Sabrina transitioned to NYU really well," said Hurtault. "She has a bright career ahead at NYU. She made a lot of progress under Coach Traynor. Next step for her is competing at the national level."

Megan Davis continued her strong season in the 3,000m steeplechase by finishing in third place. The junior recorded a time of 11:56.87.

Senior Lara Dorsky rounded out the women's participation on Wednesday, as she put the finishing touches to her collegiate career with a fourth-place showing in the 10,000m. She posted a time of 41:22.25.
