NYU Competes in Greyhound Invitational

The New York University women's track & field team took part in Moravian College's Greyhound Invitational on Saturday, April 15, in Bethlehem, PA.

Ireland Gibson provided the highlights for NYU on Saturday. The junior from Wilmington, DE, contributed to a third-place 4x400m relay team (along with sophomore Mimi Conti, freshman Evelyn Nkanga and sophomore Samantha Scoggins) that posted a time of 4:11.49. Gibson also secured fifth in the 800m, recording a season-best time of 2:21.08.

"She is still far from what she is capable of, but she is making the progress need in becoming the All-American that she is," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault.

In the field, senior captain Simone Cooper took seventh in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 10.69m. Junior Brianna Yee followed behind in 11th with a clearance of 10.31m.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore Sidney Williams placed 15th in the 1,500m, registering a time of 5:14.60. Classmate Karen Yao took 19th with a personal-best time of 5:25.81.

- Junior Alexa Goldman landed in 17th in the 400m hurdles by recording a time of 1:10.47 

- Fellow classmate Erini Farid finished in 23rd in the javelin throw, clearing a distance of 25.86m.

"Everyone is heading towards the right direction," said Hurtault. "I am excited to see what we can do next week."
