Chicago Captures Title at Wheaton Invitational

The University of Chicago women's track and field team captured the Wheaton College Invite team title and the UChicago men finished runner-up on Saturday.

The Maroons women scored 166.5 points to hold off host Wheaton (154 points) in the nine-team invite. 

UChicago's women posted six event wins on the day. Junior Khia Kurtenbach provided the biggest winning margin on the day at 31 seconds, finishing the 5,000 meters in 17:06.78. Senior Michelle Dobbs collected first place in the 800 meters by more than 2.5 seconds in 2:17.25. Junior Megan Verner-Crist was across the line in the 1,500 meters in 4:43.58.

The field events were also a success with a trio of victories. Sophomore Alexandra Thompson cleared 1.62 meters in the high jump, freshman Isabel Garon crossed 3.52 meters in the pole vault and freshman Alisha Harris recorded a top mark of 5.48 meters in the long jump.
