CWRU Ties for Third at Otterbein April Fool’s Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team competed at the Otterbein April Fool's Invitational hosted by Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio on Friday.

The women, who tallied seven top-five finishes placed tied for third out of 12 teams at the meet with 73 points. Otterbein finished first with 165 points and Malone placed second with 85 points.

Winning events for the Spartan women were senior Danielle Kulpins and junior Jennifer Hoffmann. Kulpins picked up the win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a new meet record time of 10:57.07, besting the previous meet record of 11:27.79 set by Otterbein's Heather Sandvik last season. Hoffmann finished first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:57.74, while sophomore Vanessa Pasadyn added a second-place finish in the event with a time of 4:59.20.

In addition, junior Isabel Torres-Padin placed third in the 5,000-meter run (17:58.05), senior Rachel Willard finished second in the triple jump (11.08m) and fifth in the long jump (5.03m), sophomore Samantha Kelts placed fifth in the triple jump (10.51m) and Pasadyn added a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:25.79).
