Washington Distance Medley Relay Shines at Cardinal Classic; Bears Win Nine Events at IC Alumni Classic

The Washington University in St. Louis women's distance medley relay posted the third-fastest time in school history at the North Central College Cardinal Classic.

The WashU women's DMR of junior Ellen Toennies, sophomore Kelli Hancock, junior Emily Warner and senior Lucy Cheadle ran the fastest time in NCAA Division III this season to finish second in the race behind NCAA Division II Lewis University. The Bears' time of 11:47.22 ranks third in WashU history.

At the IC Alumni Classic, the WashU women won nine events. Sophomore Rebecca Ridderhoff was part of three of the Bears' nine event wins on the women's side. She clocked a career-best time of 26.81 to win the 200, and edged sophomore teammate Daisy Ogede for first in the 60 hurdles as they finished in times of 9.48 and 9.50, respectively. Ridderhoff, Ogede, sophomore Ashley Knudson and freshman Annalise Wagner then teamed up to win the 1,600 relay in 4:07.57.

Wagner also shaved more than four seconds off her previous season-best to win the 800 in a time of 2:14.97, which ranks ninth in NCAA Division III this season. Knudson was second in a career-best time of 2:17.36. Ogede added a first-place finish in the 60 in 7.98.

The WashU women added first-place finishes in two running events by a pair of freshmen – Audrey Western, mile, 5:16.36; and Anna Maurer, 3,000, 10:49.50. Senior Claire Simons and freshman Crista Fennessee accounted for the other two event wins for the Bears. Simons cleared a height of 3.60m to win the pole vault, while Fennessee won the long jump with a leap of 4.56m.
