From Brandeis University Athletics
The Brandeis track and field teams competed in Medford at the Tufts Cupid Challenge this past Saturday. The meet was nonscoring, but a dozen personal records were set.
WOMEN'S DISTANCE

Rookie Julia Bryson (Quincy, Mass./No. Quincy) set a personal best, taking about 14 seconds off her 3000m time with 10:41.27, which qualifies her for the New England Division III Championship.

Junior Kate Farrell (Windham, N.H. / Windham) had her season opener and qualified for the New England Division III and ECAC Division III Championship in the 3000m (10:31.57).

Senior Kelsey Whitaker (Kingston, Mass. / Notre Dame Acad.) had her season opener in the mile and qualified for the New England Division III and ECAC Division III Championship (5:17.96).

Also in the mile, rookie Christine Minor (Alameda, Calf. / Alameda) in her second collegiate race, hit a season best of 5:50.18, which is one second away from her all-time PR.
WOMEN'S MIDDLE DISTANCE

Rookie Aubrey Clemens (Albuquerque, N.M. / Del Norte) hit a season best in the 800m with 2:36.79.

Senior Tove Freeman (Oakham, Mass./ Quabbin Regional) set a personal best mark in the 600m with a time of 1:40.40 - improving her previous New England DIII qualifying mark and placing 4th overall.
WOMEN'S SPRINTS

Sophomore Haliana Burhans (Charlotte, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) set a personal best mark in the 60m dash during the preliminary with 8.22 seconds - qualifying for finals. She placed 3rd overall and set another PR of 8.21 seconds.

Rookie Ramani Dayon (Newark, N.J. / University) hit a season best in the 400m with 1:04.12 for 7th place.
WOMEN'S FIELD

Sophomore Beth Defossez (Boxford, Mass. / Masconomet Reg.) set a personal best mark in the pole vault (8'0.5"/ 2.45m) and high jump (4'4"/ 1.32m).

Senior Ashley Klein (Manalapan, N.J. / Manalapan) set personal best marks in the shot put (30'0"/ 9.15m) and weight throw (30'8"/ 9.35m).

Sophomore Jordin Carter (Fort Wayne, Ind. / R. Nelson Snyder) also set a personal best mark in the weight throw with 35'10" (10.92m).
WOMEN'S RELAY

The 4x200m relay team of rookie Kanya Brown (Amherst, Mass./ Amherst Regional), Freeman, Dayon and Burhans qualified for the ECAC DIII Championship in the 4x200m with a time of 1:49.31 - they finished 1st.
