NYU Competes in Dartmouth Classic

From NYU Athletics

A contingent of the New York University women's track & field team took part in the Dartmouth Indoor Classic in Hanover, NH, on Saturday, February 4.

Following her first-place performance last week, freshman Evelyn Nkanga secured fourth place in the 400m dash by registering a personal-best time of 1:00.47. Sophomore Samantha Scoggins and Danielle Murray trailed behind in 21st (1:04.58) and 22nd place (1:04.91), respectively.

"Evelyn ran another good race," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "She is coming along in the 400m. She is already one of the top triple jumpers in the association. She is going to be a big asset."

Fellow freshman Fatimat Ayinde took fifth in the 60m hurdles, posting a time of 9.26 in the finals (9.42 to qualify in the preliminaries). Also new to the NYU scene, sophomore transfer Sabrina Herrmann placed seventh in the 3,000m by clocking a time of 10:34.08.

"Fatimat ran a great time," added Hurtault. "She has a lot of potential in the association and national level. Sabrina is also heading in the right direction. I am looking forward to seeing how they turn it on the rest of the season."
