Gabrielle Stravach Breaks Meet Record in 3000 Meters; Eagles Place Second Overall at Home Invitational

With 110.5 points and a pair of first place efforts, the Emory University Women's Track & Field team finished first in the collegiate division scoring in its home invitational held at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Senior Gabrielle Stravach highlighted all Eagle performers on Sunday, setting a meet record as well as a personal-record in the 3000m Run, winning the event in a time of 10:14.93. She added another PR in the 800m Run, finishing third at 2:17.14. Freshman Carrie McIntyre shined in her collegiate track debut, besting the entire 5000m Run field by over 30 seconds, winning with a time of 18:27.81.

Fellow senior Erica Goldman and sophomore Kaitlyn Leonard paced Emory in the 400m Dash in the collegiate division as Goldman placed second at 57.99 while Leonard took third at 58.51. Also in the 5000m Run, senior Hanna Saadegh-Vaziri was sixth with a time of 19:33.43 and sophomore Victoria Spiezioclaiming the seventh position at 19:38.54.

Emory added points in individual events by junior Kaylee Slade, sophomore Meredith Hughes, juniors Dani Bland, Dilys Osei, sophomore Ileana Zeissner, and freshman Rebekah Bondi. In the 3000m Run, Slade and Hughes were seventh and eighth, respectively, with times of 10:49.04 and 10:50.79. Bland placed fifth in the 60m Dash with a time of 7.95 with Bondi taking seventh in a time of 8.04 and Osei was second in the 60m Hurdles (9.36) and sixth in the 200m Dash (25.86.

Junior Kaylee Slade and sophomore Ileana Zeissner added points for Emory in individual track events with a pair of eighth place finishes as Slade had a mark of 10:49.04 in the 3000m Run and Zeissner crossed the finish line at 5:22.34 in the Mile.

The Eagles saw both Distance Medley Relays score in the event, led by the "B" group of freshman Talia Carlson, junior Radhika Shah, freshman Lauren Rodriguez and Zeissner taking third at 12:57.22. The "A" grouping of junior Kayla O'Shea, freshman Ayla Kazemi, sophomore Nicole Steiner and junior Maeve Andrews posted a time of 13:01.70 to come in fifth.

Over in the field events, Emory had four performers score points with senior Dara Liss and sophomore Isabel Saridakis leading the way in the pole vault with top-three showings with a mark of 3.10m. Bondi recorded a distance of 5.12m in the long jump to come in second, sophomore Nyla Lindo was fourth in the triple jump at a distance of 10.87m and T-9th in the high jump in the high jump at 1.52m. In the shot put, senior Kora Dreffs placed fifth with a mark of 11.72m and junior Paris Wagner was fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 12.92m.
