Laura Darcey Wins High Jump to Lead Chicago at Grand Valley State

From University of Chicago Athletics

Sophomore Laura Darcey led the way for the University of Chicago women's track and field team with her high jump title at the Mike Lints Alumni Invitational Saturday hosted by Grand Valley State.

Darcey was the lone Maroon to capture an event win in the 18-team meet, as the UChicago women placed sixth (42.2 points) in the team standings.

The sophomore cleared a height of 1.62 meters to win the event, a mark that matches Darcey's career-best indoor height. In total, the Maroon women recorded 11 Top 8 finishes, as sophomore Mary Martin came in second in the long jump (5.36 meters) and Claire Brockway (5,000 meters) and Grace Penders (triple jump) each collected fifth-place finishes to lead UChicago.
