From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
The Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team claimed victory on Saturday evening at the Sixth-Annual CWRU Spartan Holiday Classic.
Graduate student Cassandra Laios earned the title in the shot put, as she hit a mark of 13.92 meters. The women's 4x200-meter relay team of senior Olivia Newman, junior Bari Love, junior Maria King and sophomore Julie Hines also earned a first-place finish, as they won the event with a time of 1:50.47.
The Spartan women earned three second place finishes as junior Abby Waltz finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20 meters, freshman Jana Fisher placed second in the one-mile run with a time of 5:40.00 and Hines finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.16.
Senior Marina Yu finished third in the weight throw (13.92m) and sophomore Olivia Battistoni finished third in the one-mile run (5:50.06).
