From Brandeis University Athletics

The Brandeis track and field teams competed in a non scoring contest at the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT University in Cambridge.

Sophomore Alya Campbell (Eastchester, N.Y. / Eastchester) won the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 9.36 seconds, 0.14 seconds behind her near-record run last week.

In the 200-meter dash, Shaniece Nugent (Hartford, Conn. / Lawrence Academy) set a personal record, placing 2nd with a time of 27.97 seconds. Junior Ianna Gilbert (Queens, N.Y. / Young Women's Leadership School of Queens) finished 10th with a time of 29.04 seconds and sophomore Hailey Crane (Ovid, N.Y. / South Seneca) finished 15th with a time of 29.80 seconds.

In the 60-meter dash, senior Devin Hiltunen (Quincy, MA / North Quincy) placed 7th with a time of 8.28 seconds. This score qualified her for the finals, though she did not run in them. Junior Smiley Huynh (Bronx, N.Y. / Bronx H.S. of Science) placed just behind Hiltunen in 9th, with a time of 8.31 seconds.

Personal records were set by all three competitors in the shot put. First-year Emma Liu (Las Vegas, Nev. / Phillips Exeter Academy) placed 14th with a distance of 9.68 meters (31-9 ¼), first-year Diane Meyer (Plymouth, Minn. / Wayzata) placed 18th with a distance of 9.14 meters (30-0), and sophomore Kate Hurlbert (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) placed 20th with a distance of 8.98 meters (29-5 ½). These are the three best team scores this season.
