From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team concluded the 2014 University Athletic Association Round Robin #2 with a Sunday split at the Ratner Center. The Spartans fell in three to No. 7 nationally ranked Washington University in St. Louis but bounced back to beat New York University in four.
CWRU (15-8, 4-3 UAA) has now won five of its last six matches. By virtue of its performance over two separate conference weekends, the team has earned the No. 4 seed in next month's UAA Championship Tournament.
Against Washington U. (26-4, 5-1 UAA), the Spartans fell by scores of 25-7, 25-16 and 25-17. Versus NYU (17-11, 2-5 UAA), the Spartans were victorious 25-22, 25-18, 19-25 and 25-21.
Junior outside hitters Katie Best (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny) and Carolyn Bogart (New Berlin, Wis./New Berlin Eisenhower) each record double-doubles. Best posted 11 kills and a match high-tying 16 digs, while Bogart finished with 11 and 11.
Sophomore Jessica Justice (St. Augustine, Fla./St. Augustine) and sophomore Lauren Gurd (Farmington Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) shared the setting duties with 23 and 17 assists, respectively.
