The No. 1-ranked Emory volleyball team closed out a 4-0 weekend at its Emory Volleyball Classic on Saturday, picking up a pair of wins and remaining undefeated.  The Eagles posted 3-0 triumphs over Lakeland College (25-19-25-20, 25-21) and Susquehanna University (25-17, 25-18, 25-16), and in the process boosted their season record to 9-0.

Emory's defense continued its stellar play, allowing a combined opponent hitting percentage of .032 (60-52-244) while enjoying decided advantages in both digs (119-96) and total blocks (16-4).

Junior Kathryn Trinka led the Eagle offense against Lakeland, registering a match-high 13 kills, while classmate Sarah Maher pounded out 11 terminations en route to a .407 attack percentage (11-0—27).  In addition, Maher was one of three Emory players to post double figures with 10 digs. Freshman Karissa Dzurik rounded out the squad's double-figure performers in kills with 10 successful attack attempts.  Senior setter Sydney Miles doled out 40 assists while freshman Becky Breuer led the club with 18 digs.  Emory hit .276 (48-14—123) in the match compared to the Muskies' .144 (35-17—125).

Emory spread out its offensive attack in the weekend Susquehanna and used a smothering defensive effort in notching its 34th consecutive home win. The Crusaders hit a -084 (25-35-119) and fell victim to a relentless Eagle presence at the net that generated 11 total blocks. Trinka and Dzurik ranked 1-2 with nine and seven kills, respectively, while freshman Sydney Leimbach added six terminations along with six block assists. Junior Shannon Nugent finished with five block assists while Miles and Dzurik each chipped in four.
