The No. 2-ranked Emory volleyball team got off to a solid start in its opening match at the Calvin College Labor Day Weekend Invitational, defeating Thomas More College.  The Eagles won their second outing in as many starts, topping the Saints by a 3-0 count (25-11, 25-16, 25-17).

For the second straight match, junior Kathryn Trinka (North Bay Village, FL) led the Emory offensive attack with 11 kills.  Junior Sarah Maher (Orange, CA) and freshmanKarissa Dzurik (Columbia, PA) chipped in nine and eight terminations, respectively, with Dzurik hitting .333 (8-1—21) and Maher .320 (9-1—25).  Senior setter Sydney Milesdished out 34 assists and topped the squad with 11 digs.  Freshman Becky Breuer contributed to the cause with four service aces and nine digs.

The Eagles hit .294 (44-12—109) in the match-up while limiting TMC to a mark of .047 (24-19—109).  Emory finished with a 58-44 edge in digs.
