No. 3 Emory Closes Out UAA Round Robin I With Win Over No. 21 Carnegie Mellon

The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball team closed out the University Athletic Association Round Robin I on Sunday with a victory over No. 21-ranked Carnegie Mellon. The Eagles captured their eighth straight contest and in the process raised their overall record to 20-2, 3-0 in the league following, a 3-0 decision (25-19, 25-13, 25-13) over the Tartans who slipped to 19-4 overall, 1-2 in the UAA.

Junior Kathryn Trinka led all players with 10 kills (her 18th double-figure match of the year) and hit .333 (10-3--21). Junior Sarah Maher produced eight terminations and hit .300 (8-2--20) on the afternoon. Junior Jessica Holler registered a .545 attack percentage on six kills with no errors in 11 swings and tied classmate Shannon Nugent for the team lead with four blocks. 

Emory concluded the contest with a fine .341 hitting percentage (38-10--82) compared to CMU's .062 (31-25--96), and finished with a 36-27 edge in digs. The Eagles also held a 9-5.5 margin in total blocks.
