Emory University volleyball All-American Sydney Miles (Oklahoma City, OK)  will be recognized in the Sept. 21 edition of Sports Illustrated's Faces In The Crowd.

The 6-foot-1 senior will be noted for her performances during the Eagles' opening week of the campaign where she helped Emory to a 5-0 record. Miles played in all of the team's 17 sets over the five contests and averaged 11.7 assists, 2.41 digs and 1.00 kills per game.  

After doling out 33 assists and a pair of service aces in a season-opening 3-0 win over Birmingham Southern, Miles earned a berth on the Calvin College Labor Day Weekend Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading Emory to a 4-0 record, averaging 11.93 assists, 2.57 digs and 0.94 blocks per set.  Among the team's victories was a 3-1 decision over then No. 1-ranked Calvin, a contest where she doled out 48 assists while chipping in four block assists.

Through matches played Sept. 12, Miles ranks No. 2 among University Athletic Association players with an 11.69 assists-per-set average. In addition, she is averaging 2.41 digs and 0.69 blocks per game.

The September 21 edition of Sports Illustrated will begin to hit the newsstands on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 16-17.
