CWRU Earns Perfect 4-0 Weekend at Bishop Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team went 2-0 on the second day of the Bishop Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio after defeating Grove City 3-0 and Defiance 3-2, finishing the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.

The Spartans improved to 12-1 for the 2016 season.

In a tight match against Grove City, CWRU won in straight sets 25-11, 25-19 and 25-16.

Freshman Brianna Lemon led the Spartan attack with 20 kills, while senior outside hitter Marian Barton added 11. Sophomore setter Shannon Carroll tallied 34 assists. Defensively, sophomore libero Karina Bondelid recorded 25 digs and Carroll added eight.

After winning the first set against Defiance 25-11, CWRU dropped the next two sets 25-20 and 25-22. The Spartans fought back to win the next two sets 25-22 and 15-10.

Lemon paced the attack with a career-high 25 kills. Barton recorded 17 kills. Carroll recorded 50 assists. Bondelid and Carroll contributed with 33 and 17 digs respectively, while sophomore defensive specialist Noel Jeansonne tallied 14.
