The tandem of freshman Leah Saunders and sophomore Morgan McKnight combined for 28 kills in leading the No. 4-ranked Emory volleyball team to a Friday evening win at Transylvania. The Eagles won for the eighth straight time and raised their overall record to 9-1 following a 3-0 decision over the Pioneers who slipped to 8-4.

Emory enjoyed a .293 (53-17--123) to .068 (21-15--88) advantage in attack percentage, holding the opposition to less than .100 for the fifth time this year.  Saunders led all players with a season-high 15 kills and registered a fine hitting effort of .423 (15-4--26). It represented her third performance of double-figure terminations this season. McKnight pounded out 13 kills, the ninth time this year she finished with 10 or more, and chipped in four (1-3) total blocks.  Freshman Maggie Rimmel came through with her best all-around performance of the campaign, placing third on the team with eight successful attack attempts, hitting .467 (8-1--15) and chalking up a match-high six (1-5) total blocks.  Junior Sydney Leimbach and sophomore Sara Carr each finished with seven kills.

Sophomore Sarah Porter and junior Mady Arles directed the offense well with Porter doling out 21 assists and Arles 20. In addtion, Porter also contributed seven digs and a pair of service aces. Sophomore Elyse Thompson tied for match honors with 12 digs and helped the Eagles post a 48-44 edge in that category.
