The No. 13 University of Chicago volleyball team finished the final day of the University Athletic Association Round Robin No. 2 with a split, defeating Case Western Reserve in four sets before falling in four to No. 20 Washington-St. Louis in Sunday's finale.

The Maroons finished the weekend 2-2, topping NYU in three before falling to No. 10 Carnegie Mellon in four Saturday. Heading into the 2017 UAA Championships – set for Nov. 3-4 in Atlanta, Ga. – UChicago (19-5) carries a 4-2 mark in conference play.

#13 UCHICAGO 3, CASE WESTERN RESERVE 1 (25-20, 25-22, 17-25, 25-21)
The Maroons held off the Spartans in a tight opening match Sunday, faltering in Set 3 before coming back strong in the fourth game with a  25-21 win.

Junior right side Sarah Muisenga was a force at the net, totaling 19 kills on a stellar .500 hitting percentage to go along with nine digs, and Madison Pearson (12 kills, two blocks), Audrey Scrafford (12 kills) and Anabella Pinton (10 kills) also recorded double-digit offensive performances.

First-year Emma Griffith directed the offense to the tune of 47 assists and added 13 digs and Anne Marie Stifter (20 digs) and Frances McDonald (12 digs) rounded out the Maroon leaders.

UChicago hit .236 for the match compared to .197 for Case Western, and the Maroons responded to dropping Set 3 by totaling 17 kills and just three errors in the fourth set, recording a .350 attack percentage.

#20 WASHINGTON-ST. LOUIS 3, #13 UCHICAGO 1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-13)
UChicago opened the day's final match with a stellar opening set against the rival Bears (18-6, 6-1 UAA), but Washington-St. Louis responded with three-straight wins to hand the Maroons a four-set loss.

Junior Audrey Scrafford recorded a match-best 20 kills, sophomore Anabella Pinton totaled 15 kills and classmate Madison Pearson added 10 kills on .450 percentage, recording just one error on 20 attempts. Emma Griffith delivered 48 assists and added 12 digs and Sarah Muisenga and Anne Marie Stifter each had 14 digs to lead the defense.

The Bears used their height to their advantage, dominating defensively at the net with 20 block assists and two solo blocks compared to eight block assists for the Maroons.
