Rochester Improves to 15-10 With Wins Versus Keuka & Canton

Rochester used strong play at the net to post a pair of 3-0 women's volleyball victories over Keuka College and SUNY Canton at Keuka on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Yellowjackets defeated Keuka, 25-10, 25-19, 25-17 in their first match of the day, then turned around and won against Canton, 25-18, 25-20, 25-15. Rochester's record stood at 15-10 after the sweep. Keuka was 6-16 overall following the Rochester match. Canton was 8-18.
 
In the Keuka match, Clara Martinez led the way with 11 kills. She added four block assists. Tamera Shaw had five kills, one block solo, and three block assists. Beth Ghyzelhad seven assists, two service aces, six digs, one block solo, and three block assists.
 
Renae Lapins registered 13 assists, five aces, and three digs. Kate Korslund had three block assists and half a dozen kills. Alara Kocak had three kills. Courtney Vidovich had 15 digs and Sara Apanavicius had 10. She also had three aces.
 
Korslund was the kills leader vs. Canton in a balanced effort. She had eight. Four players had six apiece: Ghyzel, Martinez, Shaw, and Kocak. Ghyzel supplied 15 assists, two aces, four digs, and one block assist. Martinez had three block assists. Shaw added a dig and a block assist.
 
Vidovich dug 11 balls and Apanavicius had eight (plus two aces). Lapins had 16 assists and four digs. Rochester hit .274 as a team against Canton.
