Washington Ties For First At Gil Dodds Invite

Senior Lucy Cheadle raced to a first-place finish to lead the Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team at the Wheaton Gil Dodds Invite Saturday. The women tied for first in the team standings.

Cheadle led three top-10 finishers for the Washington U. women as the No. 19-ranked Bears scored 45 points to tie for first in the team standings with No. 6 Oberlin College. North Central College (Ill.) finished third with 69 points, while No. 4 University of Chicago was fourth with 87. 

Cheadle clocked a winning time of 21:03 on the 6K course to win the women's race in the field of 212 runners by nearly a minute over the runner-up finisher. The time was also just two seconds off her career-best 6K time.
