Spartans Finish Fourth at NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship

The Case Western Reserve University women's cross country team finished 4th overall, with all seven runners finishing in the top 100, at the 2015 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship.

Senior Kelsey Aamoth crossed the finish line with a time of 21:56.7 to finish second in the field of 243 individual runners. Fellow seniors Dana Jeter and Evy Hail were next to score for CWRU. Jeter finished with a time of 22:43.3 and 21st place overall, while Hail finished 30th in the field with a time of 22:57.7. Another pair of senior runners, Kristen Ruckstuhl and Lydia Greene finished 39th and 48th overall with times of 23:06.4 and 23:18.1, respectively. Rounding out the scoring contingent for the Spartans were sophomore Danielle Kulpins and senior Juliana Ross. Kulpins crossed the finish line with a time of 23:37.1 for 67th place overall, while Ross placed 83rd with a time of 24:01.1. 

Coming in first place was Hope College, while junior Lauren Strohbehn from Calvin College earned the Great Lakes Region individual title with a time of 21:46.1.

From each race, the top two finishing teams receive an automatic trip to the NCAA Division III Championships at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh on Saturday, November 21, with the remaining teams funneled into an at-large pool for additional selections to be announced on Sunday.  In addition, the top seven individual runners who are not part of teams that ultimately qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships will also compete in Wisconsin.
