Three Top-10 Finishers Lead CWRU to Second Place at Allegheny Classic

Case Western Reserve University senior Danielle Kulpins, sophomore Madeline Lindemann and junior Jennifer Hoffmann each recorded a top-10 finish on Saturday morning to lead the Spartans to second-place finish out of 11 teams at the Allegheny Classic in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

The Spartans finished the meet with 38 points, just three behind the first place squad, Carnegie Mellon.  Waynesburg finished in a distant third-place with a score of 107.

Kulpins led all Spartan finishers for the third time in as many races this season, placing fourth out of 126 total finishers with a time of 18:19 on the three-mile course.  Lindemann followed right behind Kulpins, crossing the line with a time of 18:24 to finish fifth overall, and Hoffmann checked in with a mark of 18:39 to place eighth.

Rounding out the scoring finishers were senior Rachel Laveson in 12th place with a time of 18:53 and junior Isa Torres-Padin in 14th place with a mark of 19:03.  The Spartans were the first team on Saturday to have all five scorers complete the race.

Completing the Spartans' top-seven were sophomore Vanessa Pasadyn in 20th with a time of 19:12 and freshman Cara Giannuzzi in 27th with a mark of 19:30.

Chelsia Poole, an unattached runner, won the race with a time of 17:51, while the top collegiate finisher was Carnegie Mellon's Aparna Alavilli with a time of 18:03.
