NYU Places Second at Highlander Invitational

The New York University women's cross country team finished in second place at the Highlander Invitational, hosted by Houghton College at the Field of Dreams Course in Houghton, NY, on Saturday, October 7.

The Violets' Sabrina Herrmann won the individual title as NYU finished with 91 team points, second only to Rochester Institute of Technology (57 points) in the 16-team race. 

Herrmann traversed the 6k course in a time of 22:13.6, just ahead of Mansfield University's Kenzie Jones (22:21.8).

"Sabrina ran a great race and is looking more and more comfortable running at the head of the pack," said NYU Head Coach Erison Hurtault.

Hannah Haley produced a fifth-place finish for NYU, posting a time of 23:09.1.

Also scoring for the Violets were Megan Davis (12th, 23:59.3), Lara Dorsky (14th, 24:13.8) and Isabella Steains (59th, 25:47.8). 

"The team competed well and got some valuable experience running on the same course we ill be running on for NCAA Regionals," said Hurtault. 

COURSE NOTES:

- Morel Malcolm (25:58.3) finished in 63rd place.

- NYU's seventh runner, Mary Grace Neville, finished 69th (26:13.8).

- Overall, 147 runners competed in the race.
