The No. 1-ranked University of Chicago women's cross country team continued its run of first-place performances by winning the University Athletic Association (UAA) championship on Saturday.

The conference title was UChicago's first in women's cross country since the 2013 season. The Maroons had taken runner-up in the league five-straight times.

UChicago's depth was on display once again as the team tallied 36 points to beat out runner-up Washington University – St. Louis (46 points) in the eight-team meet. The Maroons placed seven runners in the top 13 and garnered UAA Coaching Staff of the Year at the meet's conclusion.

Senior Anna Kenig-Ziesler was the top placer on the squad as she finished third overall in a 6K time of 21:41.2. Junior Maddie Kelly was the next Maroon across the finish line in fifth place in 22:00.4. Both Kenig-Ziesler and Kelly earned First Team All-UAA honors in the process.

UChicago also captured an astounding five spots on the All-UAA Second Team. Junior Lucy Groothuis (22:10.3) and senior Frances Schaeffler (22:13.1) finished eighth and ninth. Senior Katarina Birimac (22:15.3), sophomore Sophie Tedesco (22:19.0) and senior Caitlin Jorgensen (22:25.5) swept the 11th through 13th spots.

The Maroons have now won all five of their full-lineup meets this season.
