Fontbonne Softball Drops Two Against Washington University to End Regular Season Play

Game 1 Breakdown
The Griffins jumped out in front in the top of the first inning. Lilly Jones singled through the right side. Allysa Ibarra singled up the middle, moving Jones to second. Gracie Morris dropped down a sacrifice bunt, advancing both runners. Hannah Miener doubled to left field, scoring both Jones and Ibarra. Lexi Becker singled to third base, moving Miener to third. Becker stole second but both runners were left stranded. The Griffin defense held the Bears scoreless after two hits, leaving three runners stranded, 2-0.
Unfortunately, that was the extent of Fontbonne's offense, as Washington University stumped the Griffin offense. The Bears evened the score up in the bottom of the second inning, scoring two runs on three hits, 2-2.
Washington University added to their lead in the bottom of the third, bringing home three runners, and earning four hits against the Griffins, 2-5.
Fontbonne tried to generate more runs in the top of the fourth inning. Grace Harlin singled down the right field line, stole second, and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. With a runner in scoring position, the Bears sat down the next two Griffin batters to leave Harlin stranded, 2-5.
The fifth inning had similar results for the Griffins. Lilly Jones singled to right field. Allysa Ibarra reached on a fielder's choice, and was stranded on the next play. The Griffins struggled to string hits together to generate runs and dropped game one against Washington University, 2-5.

Hannah Miener: 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs
Game 2 Breakdown
Washington University got on the board first in the bottom of the first, after a Tammy Wong double to right center brought in a runner, 0-1.
Lexi Becker coming off a solid performance against Westminster, singled to the shortstop. Grace Harlin grounded out but moved Becker to second. Logan Darrow singled up the middle, and Becker tried to stretch the play but was thrown out at home. The Bears added three runs to their lead off of three hits, 0-4.
Grace Paez singled up the middle in the top of the third inning, but that was the only hit Fontbonne was able to generate in the inning. Fontbonne was able to hold the Bears in the bottom of the third, 0-4.
The fourth inning was Fontbonne's best opportunity to cut down the lead. Gracie Morris singled to the shortstop. Hannah Miener singled to the pitcher, moving pinch runner Sam Foppe to second. Lexi Becker singled to the pitcher, loading up the bases. Grace Harlin singled to center field, scoring Foppe. Michaela Mason reached on a fielder's choice, scoring pinch runner Alaina Hotop. Griffins manage to earn back two runs off of four hits, 2-4.
The Bears added one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning after a double to center field scored a run, 2-5.
Game two provided a little bit of déjà vu for the Griffins, dropping the game 2-5 against the Bears.
