NYU Posts Victory at Quad Meet

The New York University women's fencing team hosted three teams on Tuesday night, February 10, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The Violets defeated Vassar College 16-11, but fell to Division I Sacred Heart University 19-8 and to Division I Columbia University 19-8.

NYU is now 3-20 this season.

The Violets' foil team posted a 5-4 victory in its match-up with Columbia, as captain Audra Fox went 2-1 against her Lion opponents. On the evening, Fox posted a 5-4 record.  

"Audra did a fantastic job tonight against some very strong opponents," explained Head Coach Steve Mormando


HIGHLIGHTS:

Marissa Posner also posted five victories for the Violets on Tuesday night, going 5-2 in epee.
 
"Marissa continues to be one of our top fencers," Mormando added. "She was very strong tonight."

Cydney Williams led the sabre team with a 4-4 record. 

- The epee team posted a 7-2 win and the sabre squad went 5-4 against Vassar.  

- The NYU victory against Vassar snapped a five-match losing streak. 


The dual-meet portion of the 2014-15 season is now complete.
