NYU Defeats Brandeis, Totals Four Wins at Eric Sollee Invitational

On Saturday, February 1, the New York University women's fencing team competed in the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by Brandeis University, in Waltham, MA.

The Violets went 4-2 with wins against UAA rival Brandeis (15-12), Haverford College (25-2), Brown University (17-10), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (15-12). Their two losses came against Boston College (22-5) and the University of Pennsylvania (21-6).

Chiara Codazzi (Rome, Italy/St. Stephens) recorded the most victories for the Violets at 14-4 in foil. She went a perfect 3-0 against Brown, Brandeis and Haverford. 

Anna Lanzman (Brooklyn, NY/Stuyvesant) and Ria Jobalia (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) tallied 12 and 13 wins respectively in epee. They had a combined 12-0 record against Haverford and Brandeis. 

Audrey Edgington (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) led the sabre team by winning eight bouts.

"Some good results for our team today," said Head Coach Steve Mormando. "We were able to edge our University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent Brandeis and had a lot of strong performances."
