Chintala Scores 30 as Tartans Rack Up 103 Points at Home

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team shot 50.0% from the floor in a 103-74 victory at home against Geneva College on Monday, December 4. The Tartans are now 6-2 for the year while the Golden Tornadoes drop to 3-4.

How It Happened

• The Tartans held Geneva to 17.1% shooting from the floor in the first half while they shot 45.9%, including a 5-of-11 effort from the three-point arc.
• The Tartans scored 22 points in the paint in the first half and 12 second-chance points.
• Junior Anisha Chintala led the Tartans with 14 points in the first half while junior Catherine Or had 11 points and sophomore Savannah Gibbs had seven assists.
• The Tartans took a lead of 35 points in the third period when Chintala scored a fastbreak layup off a feed from Or with 7:21 showing on the clock.
• The largest lead of the game came with 3:02 to play when freshman Anna Prouty converted a layup off a pass from sophomore Piper Ligotti to make the score 99-39.
• A layup by senior Jamie Joseph off a dish from senior Sam Glowasky put the Tartans over 100 points for the fifth time under head coach Jacquie Hullah.

For the Tartans

• Chintala finished with a career-high 30 points while tying a career-best with 12 made field goals and setting a new career-high with three made three-pointers.
• Freshman Kayla Delmore closed the game with 13 points, converting 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
• Or scored in double digits for the fifth game this season with 11 points while freshman Allie Heyer and Prouty each scored 10 points.
• Gibbs finished with a career-best nine assists.
• Sophomore Ava Arias led the Tartans with a career-best nine rebounds.

For the Golden Tornadoes

• Mia San Nicolas had a hot second half and finished with 23 points after scoring just two points in the first half.
• San Nicolas finished with a double-double after grabbing 10 rebounds.
• Taylor Milroy and Aizlyn Thompson both finished with 14 points.

Notes

• Chintala became the fourth player under Hullah to score 30 or more points in a game, joining teammate Catherine Or and graduates Makayla Filiere '20 and Lisa Murphy '18.
• The Tartans are 5-0 when scoring 100 or more points under Hullah.
• The Tartans last scored more than 100 points in the 2016-17 season when they defeated Mount Aloysius by a 108-71 score on November 30.
• The Tartans scored more than 100 points three times in the 2013-14 season with the school record for points in a game set at 109 against Penn State Altoona.
