Tartans Open Series with #10 Case Western with 6-1 Loss

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University softball team played the first of four games at Case Western Reserve University on Friday, April 26. The Tartans lost the game to the Spartans 6-1. This put the Tartans at 15-16 overall and 8-9 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Spartans at 29-5 overall and 14-3 in the UAA.

How it Happened 

  • In the top of the third, the Tartans scored when sophomore Koko Sagae singled to left field. As Sagae advanced to second on the throw, senior Kiera Boucher advanced to third, and freshman Jasmine Chao crossed the plate.
  • In the bottom of the third, the Spartans scored four runs, putting the score at 4-1.
  • The Spartans scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, making the final score 6-1 in their favor.
  • The Tartans were held to three hits in the game.

On Saturday, April 27, the Tartans will compete in two more games against Case Western Reserve University. The games are set to begin at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
