CLEVELAND – The College of Wooster volleyball team capped the regular season with a 22-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 win over Buffalo State College, while the Fighting Scots opened the day with a 25-13, 25-19, 19-25, 27-25 setback against host Case Western Reserve University at Horsburgh Gymnasium.

First-year Hayley Nash led Wooster (12-15) with 15 kills against CWRU (11-15), and by day's end, the rookie sensation upped her season log to 285, the sixth-most in the current scoring era. Nash was equally as impressive defensively with 13 digs, and she didn't have a miscue on 31 serve receptions. Sophomore Katie Billetdeaux added 12 kills, a total she would repeat later in the day. Wooster's two leading hitters combined for 10 kills on 20 swings with no errors in the third set, and in that frame, the Scots hit .356 as a team.

Other stats to note from the CWRU match include 22 digs by first-year Sydney Fitzcharles, while senior Anna Medema was five back of the team lead.

CWRU's Karley King led all players with 16 kills, while Katie Kaminski backed that up with 12. Jana Giaquinto's 20 digs marked the team-high for the Spartans.

Nash tallied 17 kills and 10 digs in the nightcap, with six of the kills coming during a 16-point stretch in the third set. Billetdeaux added three digs, two aces, and two blocks to her stat line, and first-year Emily Gail finished just shy of 10 kills. Fitzcharles led the defensive efforts with 15 digs, and junior Meghan Botsch followed with 11.

Buffalo State's Kayla Wolinski turned in 11 kills, and Darion Jonathan was stellar in multiple facets, evidenced by 19 digs and a match-high six aces.

Next, Wooster turns its attention to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. Wittenberg University is the host of the two-day, single elimination tournament, which starts on Friday, November 8. Wooster is the sixth seed and plays against seventh-seeded Kenyon College (6-19) at 4 p.m. on Friday. The winner moves on to play third-seeded Ohio Wesleyan University (12-15) at 7:30 p.m.
