Lexington, KY – The Wittenberg Tiger softball team wrapped up their trip to the Pioneer Classic with two final games from the bluegrass state, taking on Case Western Reserve University and Hanover College. Wittenberg would split the day, falling in game one to Case Western 8-1, bouncing back with a 4-0 shutout win over the Panthers from Hanover. The Tigers tallied eight hits on the day through two games, with Elise Freeland recording a hit in each game of the day for Wittenberg.

Wittenberg didn't get their offense rolling until late in game one against CWRU, plating their first run in the bottom of the fifth. Lexi Williams knocked a single into right field, bringing home Briana Busic for the long Tiger run of the game.

The Tigers carried the offense into game two, putting up runs in the first, second and fourth innings against Hanover. An RBI triple from Clara Andersen got the scoring started in the top of the first. Andersen would capitalize on the wild pitch by the Panthers later in the inning, taking the Wittenberg lead out to 2-0. Busic would cross home for the second time on the day, with Samantha Casteel executing the sacrifice bunt and extending the Tiger advantage out to 3-0. Alexis Christy pushed the final Tiger run across in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly to left, bringing home Nikki Hawkins.
