Women’s Cross Country
Zoe Friedman — Emory University — Silver Spring, MD (Montgomery Blair)
Emory University first-year runner Zoe Friedman placed 14th of 141 runners at the Georgia College College & State University Bobcat Invitational. She completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 23:21.4 to lead the Eagles to a fifth-place finish in the 19-team field.
Men’s Cross Country
John Cox — Emory University — Louisville, CO (Loomis Chaffee)
Emory University sophomore John Cox finished 27th of 164 runners at the Georgia College & State University Bobcat Invitational. He clocked a personal-best eight-kilometer time of 26:18.8 and helped lead the Eagles to a seventh-place finish in the 18-team event.
Football – Offense
Rory Hubbard — Carnegie Mellon University — Rolling Hills Estates, CA (Palos Verdes Peninsula)
Senior running back Rory Hubbard recorded his second career 100-yard rushing game in a 41-7 Carnegie Mellon University win at Thiel College. He ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 20 rushes, averaging 6.7 yards per carry. Hubbard returned two kickoffs for 37 yards and added 16 yards receiving.
Drew Saxton — Case Western Reserve University — South Fayette, PA (South Fayette)
Case Western Reserve University quarterback Drew Saxton broke the freshman single-season program record for passing yards in the Spartans’ 27-14 win at Geneva College on Saturday night. He completed 14 of 28 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns, raising his season total to 2,177 yards with 26 scoring passes.
Football – Defense
Cameron Brown — Case Western Reserve University — Westlake, OH (Westlake)
Senior defensive end Cameron Brown of Case Western Reserve University matched his career-high with 10 tackles and added a pair of sacks in the 22nd-ranked Spartans’ 27-14 victory at Geneva College. He totaled 2.5 tackles for a loss of 19 yards and he forced a fumble on the opening drive of the third quarter. Brown ranks second in NCAA Division III with 1.57 sacks per game.
Football – Special Teams
Brandon Nguyen — Carnegie Mellon University — Maitland, FL (Lake Highland Preparatory)
Freshman Brandon Nguyen converted all of his kicks in a 41-7 Carnegie Mellon University road win over Thiel College. He booted 33- and 34-yard field goals in addition to hitting all five of his extra point attempts.
Women’s Golf
Samantha Haubenstock — Washington University — Weston, FL (Pine Crest School)
Washington University junior Samantha Haubenstock tied for second place of 93 competitors at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational in Sandestin, Florida. She totaled 225 strokes (74-77-74) and led the field with 37 pars. The Bears shot a third-round best 302 to place third.
Men’s Golf
Logan Ryan — Emory University — Fort Wayne, IN (Bishop Dwenger)
Emory University freshman Logan Ryan helped the top-ranked Eagles to a first-place finish at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational in Sandestin, Florida. He shot a four-under par 67 in the final round to finish with a five-under par 208 (67-74-67), which placed him fourth in the 90-player field. Ryan’s score marked the program’s second-best for a three-round tournament.
Women’s Soccer – Offense
Shivani Beall — Emory University — Atlanta, GA (The Paideia School)
Emory University junior forward Shivani Beall recorded the first Eagles’ hat trick in nearly five years in a 4-0 win over Covenant College. She scored the first goal of the game and added two second-half scores. The three goals marked a career-high for Beall and marked her second multi-goal effort of the season.
Women’s Soccer – Defense
Lauren Metz — Case Western Reserve University — Wyoming, OH (Wyoming)
Case Western Reserve University sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Metz made five saves to record the shutout in the Spartans’ 3-0 win over visiting Oberlin College. She recorded her fourth solo shutout of the season and raised her Association-leading saves total to 72.
Men’s Soccer – Offense
Andrew Allen — Brandeis University — Norfolk, MA (King Phillip Regional)
Senior forward Andrew Allen scored both goals as Brandeis University played Clark University to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday. He scored just 54 seconds into the game and tallied again in the 11th minute. Allen has scored the Judges’ last three goals.
Men’s Soccer – Defense
Patrick Conway — University of Rochester — Acton, MA (Acton-Boxborough)
Senior goalkeeper Patrick Conway made a pair of saves as University of Rochester shut down regionally ranked Endicott College, 2-0. He recorded his sixth shutout of the season.
Volleyball
Emma Bartlett — Brandeis University — Duxbury, MA (Duxbury)
Brandeis University junior middle hitter Emma Bartlett averaged 3.22 kills and hit .491 to lead the Judges to a 3-0 mark at the Hall of Fame Invitational hosted by Smith College. She totaled 12 kills without an error and added three blocks in a sweep of Trinity College in the final match of the weekend. Bartlett recorded 29 kills with just two errors in 55 attacks in the three matches.
Katie Kaminski — Case Western Reserve University — Centerville, OH (Centerville)
Case Western Reserve University sophomore middle blocker Katie Kaminski hit .676 and averaged 3.71 kills per set in a pair of wins on Saturday. She totaled 18 kills with just one error in the Spartans’ four-set win over host Ohio Wesleyan University after posting eight kills without an error in a sweep of Allegheny College. Kaminski added 10 digs, four blocks, and two service aces.
Maia So-Holloway — Carnegie Mellon University — Oakland, CA (Sacred Heart Cathedral)
Carnegie Mellon University junior setter Maia So-Holloway averaged 11.53 assists and 3.27 digs per set in leading the Tartans to a 3-1 record at their home tournament. She finished with a career-best 58 assists in a five-set win over Alma College and ended the weekend with 35 assists and 14 digs in a sweep of North Park University. So-Holloway added five service aces and five blocks.
Women’s Swimming and Diving
Lucy Daro — Emory University — Mill Valley, CA (San Francisco University HS)
Sophomore Lucy Daro posted three runner-up finishes as Emory University competed against NCAA Division II Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday. She placed second in the 100- (52.57 seconds) and 200-yard (1:53.70) freestyles as well as the 100-yard butterfly (57.81 seconds). Daro swam on the Eagles’ runner-up 200-yard freestyle relay that turned in a time of 1:37.09.
Carmen White — NYU — Lake Bluff, IL (Lake Forest)
Junior Carmen White swept the diving events as NYU defeated Rowan University in a dual meet on Saturday. She won the one-meter dive with a score of 312.75 and captured the three-meter board with a mark of 300.98 points.
Men’s Swimming and Diving
Trey Kolleck — Emory University — Newburgh, IN (Castle)
Senior Trey Kolleck claimed two individual events in an Emory University dual meet with NCAA Division II Queens University of Charlotte. He swept the sprint relays, taking the 50- (20.26 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (45.25 seconds) events. Kolleck also swam on two runner-up relays, the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:23.71) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:23.78).
Cole Vertin — NYU — San Jose, CA (St. Francis)
Freshman Cole Vertin won one event and finished third in another in NYU’s 177-115 win over Rowan University on Saturday. He placed first on the one-meter board (340.81) and third in the three-meter dive (292.70).
Athlete of the Week selections are drawn from nominees submitted by member institution coaches and sports information directors. UAA Athletes of the Week are selected in each sport in which the UAA sponsors competition. They are selected on the basis of their individual performances and contributions to team efforts during the past week in both Association and non-Association competition.
