Athletes of the Week for November 26, 2018

Women’s Basketball

Allison Chernow  —  Emory University  —  Dresher, PA (Upper Dublin)

Emory University junior guard Allison Chernow averaged 32.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game as the Eagles split a pair of games at the Gratz Park Private Wealth Classic hosted by Transylvania University. She shot 73.3 percent from three-point range (11-of-15), 58.1 percent from the floor
(18-for-31), and 89.5 percent (17-of-19) from the free throw line. Chernow netted a career-high 39 points, the program’s second-highest single-game mark, in a 90-87 double overtime loss to the host school on Saturday, adding a program-record tying nine 3-pointers. She followed that with 25 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, in the Eagles’ 69-57 victory over Denison University on Sunday.

Men’s Basketball

Ryan Clamage  —  University of Rochester  —  Lake Forest, IL (Lake Forest Academy)

University of Rochester senior guard Ryan Clamage was named Most Valuable Player of the Holiday Inn Rochester Downtown Tournament as the Yellowjackets completed a 3-0 week. He averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, shooting 58.1 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range. He scored 18 points in the Yellowjackets’ 54-45 win over Montclair State University in a battle of unbeaten teams.

Jack Nolan  —  Washington University  —  Downers Grove, IL (Benet Academy)

Washington University sophomore guard Jack Nolan was named Most Valuable Player of the Nicholas Investments Thanksgiving Classic in Waukesha, Wisconsin after averaging 22 points per contest in leading the Bears to the title. He averaged 20.3 points, 2.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game in a 2-1 week. In an 89-70 championship game win over Carthage College, Nolan hit 10 of 16 field goals, including four 3-pointers, to finish with 24 points.

Wrestling

Jacob Lill  —  NYU  —  Loganville, GA (Archer)

Sophomore heavyweight Jacob Lill recorded a first-period pin to help lead NYU past 24th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology, its first win over the Ducks since the 2014-15 season. His bonus point victory extended the NYU lead from 13-9 to 16-9 with three bouts left in the eventual 28-13 victory.
