Men's Tennis Falls to Regionally Ranked Brandeis, 9-0

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to regionally ranked Brandeis University on Thursday afternoon at the Gosman Athletic Center.

The host Judges, who are ranked #2 in the Northeast (Div. III), improve to 5-1 on the season, while the Bears fall to 0-3.

In doubles play, seniors Anupreeth Coramutla (Monroe Township, N.J.) and Ben Maffa (Lexington, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-0 win at number one, while fellow seniors Nikhil Das (Smithfield, R.I.) and Rajan Vohra (Glen Head, N.Y.) posted an 8-0 decision at the second flight. Sophomore Hunter Levine (Weston, Fla.) and freshman Aaron Bayse (Mission Viejo, Calif.) delivered an 8-0 win at the third spot.

Coramutla, Das, Maffa, Levine and Bayse also earned 6-0, 6-0 straight set decisions at the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth flights, respectively, in singles competition. Sophomore Simon Kauppila (Chesterfield, Mo.) added a  6-1, 6-1 straight set victory at second singles.

Both teams have one more regular season match remaining on the 2021 schedule. The Bears travel to Salem State University on Saturday (May 1) for a noontime match with the Vikings, while the Judges entertain Division II Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, May 4th at 3:00 PM.
