WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's soccer team picked up a vital 2-0 victory in their regular-season finale against rival New York University today on Gordon Field. With the win, the Judges close their regular season at 10-5-4 overall, 3-3-1 in the University Athletic Association. NYU falls to 7-7-2, 3-3-1 UAA. The teams finish in a three-way tie, along with Rochester, for second place in the conference.

The first half was evenly played, as both teams had five shots, with the Judges putting two on frame and the Violets one. The turning point in the game came in the 57^th minute, when NYU had a player sent off for throwing a punch. With the Judges up a man and more than 30 minutes to play, the hosts were able to increase their pressure. It finally paid off in the 64^th minute, when junior Evan Glass (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) sent a long throw-in from the left side of the field into the box. It landed at the feet of Judge rookie forward Will DeNight (Miami, Fla./MAST Academy), who blasted it home for his UAA-leading seventh goal of the season. The assist was Glass's first of the season and the second of his career.

Brandeis was able to get an insurance goal in the 78^th minute. Senior Jake Warren (Medway, Mass./Medway) sent a cross into the box that junior midfielder Noah Gans (Newton, Mass./Newton South) redirected into the net by the near post. The goal was Gans's fourth of the campaign, while the helper was Warren's second.

With their man advantage, the Judges were able to see the game through as senior goalkeeper Greg Irwin (Passaic, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) made three saves for his eighth shutout of the season and the team's ninth. NYU rookie Luca Mancuso had four saves in the losing effort. Brandeis outshot NYU, 14-7, including 9-2 in the second half when they had the man advantage.

The win give Brandeis a 10-win campaign for the ninth time in the last 10 years. The Judges improve to 20-12-1 all-time against NYU. The Judges, who were eighth in the New England region in the last NCAA regional rankings, await a possible NCAA tournament berth on Monday afternoon.
