Men's Basketball Wins Third Straight; Dispatches LaGrange 95-65

The No. 22 ranked Emory University men's basketball program poured in a season-high 95 points as the Eagles dispatched LaGrange College to the tune of 95-65 Wednesday night at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

Senior Matthew Schner stuffed the stat sheet once again, recording his third double-double of the last four games with 19 points and a career-high 17 rebounds to go along with team-highs in assists and steals, registering four in both category, and was one of four Eagles to finish in double figures. All 16 members of the Emory roster saw playing time on the evening with 14 reaching the scoring column.

Freshman Logan Shanahan tallied 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting with senior Nick Stuck and sophomore Jaxson Barber totaling 11 and 10 each. Barber, making his first career start, finished with a solid showing of 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a block. Junior Mason Johnson was a strong bench option for Coach Jason Zimmerman in the game, posting nine points, six rebounds and knocked down five from the line in almost 12 minutes of action.

Across the opening 15 minutes of the first half, both sides were fairly even as the teams stayed within at least four points of one another. With the score knotted at 30 with 4:26 left to play in the first half, the Eagles proceeded to hold the Panthers scoreless for the next 6:27 minutes of game play, going on a 19-0 run including a 16-0 stretch to close out the half which essentially sealed the win for the Eagles. Emory's lead never shrunk less than 15 for the remainder of the second half and grew to as many as 30.

The Eagles won the rebounding battle 56-39 and bested LC on the transition to the tune of 24 fast break points compared to just four for the visitors. Emory shot 45.7% from the field (37-for-81), the team's second-best shooting percentage in a game this season while LaGrange ended the night 32.9% from the floor, including 6-for-27 from behind the arc and missed 11 from the charity stripe.

Emory wraps up the semester next Tuesday, December 7th, with a matchup on the road against Covenant College. Tip off from Lookout Mountain is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
