Women's Tennis Upended at Tufts

The Emory University women's tennis team were upended by Tufts University by a score of 6-3 Sunday afternoon in Medford, MA.

The Eagles started strong with an 8-3 win at the No. 1 doubles position from senior Christina Watson and sophomore Ana Cristina Perez but were down 2-1 entering singles as the Jumbos were 8-4 and 8-3 winners on the other two courts.

Tufts moved in front 3-1 with a straight set win on four before the Eagles picked up wins in two of the next three matches that finished as Watson was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 3 while classmate Emma Cartledge scored a 6-4, 7-6 (7) on the second line. That was as close as Emory would make the score however as Tufts earned wins at the fifth and sixth spots as both Eagles had to retire early.

Emory will look to gear up for next week's UAA Championships as play begins Friday morning at Santander Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.
