The Emory University women's tennis team took care of business against Brenau University Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta, defeating the Tigers by a 9-0 score.
Before the start of the match, the Eagles honored their five seniors: Katie Chang, Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico, Sasha Hartje, Defne Olcay and Stephanie Taylor with a special on-court ceremony.
In doubles, the Eagles won both matches played handedly with the third being won by default. On court one, Gonzalez-Rico and Chang stayed unbeaten with an 8-1 decision while Hartje and Olcay teamed up for the 8-2 victory on court two.
The Eagles proceeded to win all five singles matches in straight sets with the sixth position being claimed by default. Gonzalez-Rico was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at the first position with Christina Watson posting the 6-3, 6-0 win at second singles. Seniors secured the final three victories with Taylor besting her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth position, Olcay winning 6-0, 6-1 on the fourth line and Chang winning 6-4, 6-1 on court five.
Emory, now 4-2, continues its season on Friday, April 30th with a home match against Georgia Gwinnett College beginning at 3:00 PM.
