HARTFORD, Conn. – The Brandeis University baseball team scored runs in seven of nine innings today en route to a 15-9 victory on the road at Trinity (Conn.) College. The Judges' 15 runs came on 12 hits and eight walks as they improve to 2-2 on the season. The Bantams fall to 1-3.

The Judges were paced by their two and three hitters, grad students 1B Mike Khoury (E. Bridgewater, Mass./E. Bridgewater) and C Luke Hall (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown), who combined to go 5-for-8 with seven RBI and six runs scored. Each contributed a double and a home run in the contest. In the top of the first, Khoury (3-4, 4 R, 4 RBI, 2B, HR) doubled home the game's first run and Hall (2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2B, HR) followed with a two-run homer to make it 3-0 before Trinity recorded an out. Hall's home run was his first of the season and the eighth of his career.

In the second, with one on and two away, Brandeis RF Steven Simon (Hanover, Mass. / Hanover) reached on a dropped pop-up. One pitch later, Khoury belted his second homer of the season to right field. The home run was the 20th of his career, making Khoury just the fifth player in program history to reach the 20-homer milestone.

Khoury added an RBI single in the third to give him 90 for his career. It was part of a four-run frame that gave the Judges a 9-0 lead. The big hit of the third was a two-run double by junior LF Sam Nugent (Mansfield, Mass. / Mansfield) that came after Trinity's Jonathan Link walked the bases loaded.

The hosts got on the board with a two-run homer from Tanner Fairchild in the fourth inning. Brandeis got those back with single runs in the fifth and sixth on a Bantam error and a single by grad student 2B Victor Oppenheimer (West Hills, Calif./Chaminade). Hall's RBI double in the seventh gave Brandeis a 12-2 lead. Trinity answered with a run in the seventh and two in the eighth before a busy ninth inning. Brandeis scored three times on just one hit in their last at-bat to go up 15-5, with Trinity scoring four in the bottom of the frame to make the final margin.

The Brandeis offensive outburst came in support of grad student starter Mason Newman (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle), who earned the win to improve to 1-1 on the season. It was the sixth win of his career but first since 2019. He went six innings and allowed nine hits and two earned runs. He walked one and struck out two.

The Judges return to action on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. with a game against St. Joseph's (Maine).
