Three WashU Baseball Players Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

The Washington University in St. Louis baseball team had three student-athletes named to the NCAA Division III College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.

Senior pitcher Ryan Loutos and junior infielders Bo Anderson and Tim Van Kirk each earned the honor. The trio were named the District 5 team, which includes schools from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Anderson owns a 3.84 grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in computer engineering. He is a two-time Academic All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, named the UAA Hitter of the Week on May 17 and selected to the World Series All-Tournament Team. Anderson appeared in all 40 games tallying 28 runs, 26 RBI, six stolen bases and five homeruns for a .338 batting average.

Loutos graduated with a 3.90 GPA with a degree in computer science. He was named a D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-American, First Team All-Central Region and All-UAA this season. Loutos is a three-time Academic All-UAA honoree and was a Second Team Academic All-America selection in 2019.

Loutos was selected as the UAA Pitcher of the Week four times this season and owns the program record with 116 strikeouts in a single season. He finished his career ranked third in pitching leaders with a 1.84 ERA and strikeouts (287), fifth in shutouts (3) and 10th in innings pitched (230.0).

Van Kirk, an accounting and economics and strategy double major, holds a 3.63 grade point average.  He is a two-time Academic All-UAA honoree and earned D3baseball.com Honorable Mention All-America, ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com Second Team All-Central Region and All-UAA honors this season.

He was named UAA Hitter of the Week and D3baseball.com second baseman of the Week for his performances against DePauw, March 20-21. Van Kirk started all 40 games at second base, recording a team-best .397 batting average with one homerun, 39 runs, 35 RBI and 23 stolen bases.
