Freshman Ian Adler (Malvern, PA/Great Valley), sophomore Liam Carpenter (Bedford, MA/St. John's Prep), sophomore Reis Gordon (Tampa, FL/Tampa Prep), and junior Ian Sanders (Wilton, CT/Wilton) (Wilton, CT/Wilton HS) took home the bronze medal in Senior Team Men's Epee at the January North America Championships (NAC) in Charlotte, NC, on Sunday, January 5.

The foursome posted victories over the Rockland Fencing Club (45-33), Marx Fencing Academy (45-32) and the Medeo Fencing Club (45-44) before falling to NCAA Division I Ohio State University (45-41) in the semifinals.

Overall, 41 teams participated.

For their efforts, each member of the team also received University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors.

"They did a terrific job working together as a team from the very beginning, helping each other out and figuring out a strategy for each of their opponents," said Head Coach Steve Mormando. "It was an incredibly positive experience for everyone on the team."

Individually, freshman Jamie Ren (Hong Kong, Hong Kong/The Lawrenceville School (Lawrenceville, NJ)) finished fifth in Junior Men's Sabre on Saturday. Ren produced four victories before dropping a 15-11 decision to George Bivins of Division I University of Notre Dame in the Round of 8.

Overall, 170 fencers competed in the event.

"Jamie did a terrific job this weekend," Mormando added. "He performed very maturely for a freshman."

Ren also competed along with freshmen Bryce Belser (Jersey City, NJ/Saint Peter's Prep), Nick Han (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) and Ryan Xu (Aurora, ON, Canada/St. Andrew's College) in Senior Team Men's Sabre as the squad posted a third-place finish (of 11 teams).
