From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics

Junior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team repeats as a NCAA Division III PING First Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Freshman Raymond Li (Del Mar, Calif.) and junior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) also garnered All-America honors with Raymond Li landing a spot on the third team and Folker receiving honorable mention status. The three receiving the honor is the first time multiple golfers have received All-America in one season.

The trio helped lead the Tartans to the highest final ranking in program history of fourth nationally when the final rankings were released at the beginning of April. The Tartans ended the shortened season with a top-place finish at the 18-team, 54-hole Savannah Invitational, which was played on the par 72, 6,845-yard The Club at Savannah Harbor Golf Course. The Tartans also won the final invitational of the fall season, which was the 22-team O'Briant-Jensen Memorial that was played on the par 71, 6,743-yard The Cardinal by Pete Dye Course in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Jason Li finished the season with a team-best average round of 70.9 through 14 rounds. In 10 of his 14 rounds, the junior shot even-par or lower. On two occasions, Li carded a school record round of 66 and tied Folker at the Savannah Invitational for the lowest individual 54-hole total of 204, as they tied for second individually in a field of 90 golfers.

Raymond Li finished second on the team with an average of 72.9 in 10 rounds of play. He also tied the school record round of 66 this past fall at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial where he a carded a 36-hole score of 139 to place second individually in a field of 120 golfers. His 139 ranks as the second lowest 36-hole tournament score in program history.

In the event that Folker tied Jason Li for the lowest individual 54-hole total in program history, he carded back-to-back collegiate-best rounds of 67 to go with an opening round score of 70. Folker finished third on the team with an average of 73.4 in eight rounds played.

Last season, Jason Li became the first Tartan golfer to be named first team All-American. The program now has nine All-America honors, as George Qian was named third team in 2017 and honorable mention in 2016 and 2015. Ian and Paul Bangor are the other All-Americans in Tartan golf history. Ian achieved the honor in 2013 while his father Paul received the distinction in 1985.
