From NYU Athletics

Joseph Burlison (Salinas, CA/Palma), a sophomore on the New York University men's golf team, has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Burlison had an outstanding fall season for the Violets, securing four top-10 finishes. He won the Skidmore Invitational (October 12-13) by shooting the best 36-hole tournament score (135) in team history, which included a record-tying 67 in the first round. Over the whole fall campaign, Burlison averaged 72.5 per round, another program record.

Recognized as University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week on September 23 and October 14, Burlison's other top highlights this season included a third-place finish at the Williams Invitational (September 21-22), a six-place showing at the Liberty League Fall Preview (October 5-6) and a seventh-place finish at the St. Lawrence Invitational (September 7-8).

"Joey had an incredible fall season," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "He was on top of his game at all times and certainly deserves this honor."

Burlison, who was named PING All-Northeast Region for the second time in his career earlier this month, had his 2020 spring season curtailed due to the coronavirus epidemic.
