Carnegie Mellon Men’s Golf Leads Field After Opening Round of 2022 NCAA Championship

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Division III championship on Tuesday.

The Tartans fired a team score of even par 288 on the par-72, 6,744-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans currently lead the 43-team field after 18 holes and are three strokes ahead of second-place Huntingdon College which shot a three-over 287 on the par-71, 6,792-yard Las Colinas Course.

Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) sits atop the individual leader board after ending play with a three-under par 69. Freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) also carded a round of under par with a one-under 71 and is tied for fifth.

Senior Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) entered the clubhouse with a season-best round of one-over par 73 while classmates Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) and Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) shot rounds of 75 and 76, respectively.
