The Emory men's golf team gritted out a tough third round Tuesday morning to capture the team championship at the Tartan Invitational. The 54-hole tournament (36 holes on Monday, 18 on Tuesday) was played at the 7,100-yard, par-72 course at the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, PA.

In the final round of play, the No. 3 ranked Eagles shot a combined score of 309 to put their three-round total at 905 (299-27-309). After finishing day one with an eight-stroke lead, it took everything the Eagles had to hold on to their lead as host No. 4 ranked Carnegie Mellon finished the tournament in second place with a score of 907 (301-307-299). Rounding out the podium was No. 1 ranked Methodist who ended with a score of 911 (292-312-307).

Leading the way for the Eagles on day two was senior Max Schwarz who carded a 75 to bring his three-round total to 219 (71-73-75). Schwarz finished the tournament tied for second overall in the field of 66 and led all players with 13 total birdies. After a shaky first round, senior Davis Hingtgen rallied back to finish tied for seventh overall registering a score of 227 (78-74-75). Senior Logan Ryan was a steadying force as he finished third for the Eagles in each round of play to finish with a mark of 228 (77-74-77) and a tied-for ninth overall placement. Sophomore Michael Rosenbloom (73-78-85) and freshman Josh Qian (78-76-82) finished the tournament knotted up, each posting a score of 236 good for 28th overall.
