Rochester Stands 10th of 13 at Carnegie Mellon's Tartan Invitational

Rochester golfers were challenged to find consistency on the first day of The Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. This is the second high-level tournament that the Yellowjackets have competed in this fall. Many of the 13 competing schools are ranked in the current Top 25 by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Yellowjackets are 10th in the field after 36 holes. Rochester has a total of 631 strokes.  
 
Emory leads with 596 strokes. Methodist is second at 604, and host Carnegie Mellon is third with a score of 608. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday morning with an 8 a.m. tee time at the Laurel Valley Golf Club (par 72).

UR's low shooter through the first two rounds is Lewis Raboy. He is 11 over par with a score of 155. Kerry Wang is second for the Yellowjackets with a 156. That ties him for 27th place. Tom Liu and Nishant Datta both sit at 163 (tied for 50th) and Gary Pan is Rochester's fifth golfer with a 167.
 
Raboy and Wang both broke 80 in the first round. Raboy had a two-over 74 which included two birdie. Wang carded a 79 (seven over) with one birdie. Datta and Pan both shot nine-over 81s. Datta had one birdie and nine pars, six of those on the back nine. Datta had two birdies. He parred six of the back nine holes after parring two on the front nine. Liu finished with an 87 (one birdie, five pars).
 
In the second 18 holes, Liu was the low scorer with a four-over 76 (six pars, five birdies). Wang carded a 77 (five-over) with one birdie and 12 pars. Raboy finished nine-over for the second 18 holes. His 81 showed four pars and three birdies. Datta had eight pars and one birdie enroute to an 82(10 over). Pan parred seven of his holes in round two to finish with an 86.
