Rochester Finishes As Runner-Up at Hershey Cup

After shooting a second round score of 302, the second lowest across two days among all teams at the event, the University of Rochester golf team ended up in second place at the annual Hershey Cup at Hershey Country Club on Monday afternoon.
 
Rochester finished the tournament with a score of 611 for the two days, ending just three shots back of tournament champion and conference rival RPI who finished at 608. The Engineers, ranked #17 in the latest Division III poll fired a second round team score of 301 to finish as the only team to edge out Rochester for the single-round best team score.
 
York College of Pennsylvania ended third at 614, while 5th-ranked Wittenberg finished in fourth (615). Franklin & Marshall rounded out the top-5 with a 620 team score.
 
Rochester's Brendan Frain led the Yellowjackets in the tournament, finishing in a tie for fifth place in the 81-golfer field with a score of 152 over the two days. On Monday, he carded his second straight score of 76, shooting 5-over on the par-71 Hershey CC East layout.
 
Sophomore Gary Pan carded the lowest score by a Yellowjacket golfer on the weekend, ending with a 73 on day two, vaulting up the leaderboard to end in 31st place. His second round featured two birdies and 12 pars.
 
Both Tom Liu and Kerry Wang ended in a tie for 16th over the tournament, recording 155 strokes during the two days. Wang shot a 75 on day two, including going 1-under over his final nine holes, while Liu ended at 78 in Monday's round.
 
Jeffrey Li was the fifth UR golfer in the starting lineup, and he wrapped up his event with an 82 on Monday, also finishing in a tie for 31st at 158 in the two rounds.
 
Jack Feliciano played as UR's individual in the event and finished in a tie for 54th. He shot 84 in the final round.
