Rochester Breaks Tournament Record In Third Conaecutive Kravetz Win

The University of Rochester golf team set a new tournament scoring record and captured its third straight title at the Fred Kravetz Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Irondequoit Country Club.
 
Rochester carded a score of 296 (8-over) on Saturday to finish the two-day even with a 593 score over 36 holes, breaking the old team scoring mark in the event by two strokes.
 
Previously, 2009 champion Huntingdon and 2015 champion RPI had scored 595 over the two rounds.
 
Finishing behind Rochester on Saturday was McDaniel and Skidmore in a tie for second at 598. McDaniel shot the lowest round of the tournament on day two, recording a 291, while Skidmore carded a solid 294 on Saturday. Rounding out the field was fourth place Williams (614), fifth place Wooster (623) and sixth place Hobart (670).
 
Five Yellowjackets finished in the top ten in the event, led by juniors Jonathan Zou and Kerry Wang who both ended in a tie for third place. Wang was one of four players on day two to finish under par, shooting a 1-under, 71 on the par-72 course at Irondequoit. Zou ended at the 147 total score after shooting a 3-over round of 75 in the final round.
 
Wang's card on Saturday was terrific over the final ten holes. He combined to go 3-under from hole nine through 12 and finished off his round with six straight pars to reach his 1-under total.
 
Senior Brendan Frain was tied for sixth at 149 following his second straight solid round, including recording an eagle on the par-5, seventh hole. First-year teammate Marshall Kim was the highest finisher among individual competitors at the event, matching Frain. The two recorded the exact same scores over the two rounds, each recording 75 on Friday and 74 on Saturday.
 
Tom Liu placed tied for ninth after taking 150 strokes over the two rounds. Liu opened with a first round 74 and came home with a 76 on day two.
 
The fifth member of the Rochester starting five was Gary Pan who ended in a tie for 12th at 152. He shot back-to-back rounds of 76.
 
Joining Kim as individual players from the Rochester squad were Jeffrey Li who finished in 14th (153), Jack Feliciano who wrapped up in 31st (162) and Will Meinhardt who placed 34th (179).
